and hyperactive joe biden is a high risk proposition. it could turn out well and i happen to think he's pretty good debater. de well, i thought against sarah palin. de well when he ran for president. he's an eloquent guy who in the big debates has always been a very controlled figure. but paul ryan has what mitt romney had, which is the ability to real off number after number. and again i'm struck by the fact that you can get wonky this year. people somehow seem to want that. and ryan certainly has that capacity to just go through here's why our position is right. number abcd. >> and just very quickly, 30 seconds, this notion you said a minute ago that romney has moved to the center, is that something he continues on the campaign trail? >> i bit. >> the obama folks are saying it is a different mitt romney. >> they had a big decision to make 6, 8 months ago which was do we attack him as a right wing idea loll or flip-flopper. they went idealogue now trying to switch to flip-flopper. but i think he'll have to continue that. it's working fo

they had honest joe t shirts they rolled out with this comment and a picture of joe biden. you've seen this do this, take comments out of context and run with them. they did that with the "you didn't build that" comment from president obama. i don't know how far it goes. it's a news cycle we find something to talk about every single day and it's hard to believe this will actually last. i do think something will come up in the debate, i imagine romney will quote joe biden saying the last four years haven't been so great, and ryan's 30% comment will come up tonight or debates in the coming weeks. >> my take on biden gaffes, they're no harm so, therefore, no foul. the republicans have been caught saying very serious stuff on tape they didn't want anybody to hear. these aren't mistakes in public. it's when you're caught you don't want anybody to know about except the chosen few who gave 50,000 bucks to hear you. here's a tape of paul ryan saying 30% of americans want a welfare base, they want to live off the hog, basically. sounds like mitt romney's comments about 47%. >> today

joe biden. no, don't boo. he's the best thing we got going, guys. >> jimmy, i'm sorry, but if joe biden is the best thing they've got going for them, they must have a terribly mediocre candidate. >> perhaps if that's the case, then the converse is true. perhaps mitt romney is the best thing we have going for us on the democratic side. but that's not the case. what we have, instead, is a president of the united states who has stopped the bleeding of 800,000 jobs a month. whose unemployment rate he inherited is now down. that the economy is growing, tepidly but growing as opposed to contracting and shrinking under the last president. so, if they would like for joe biden to be their biggest asset, have him. i'm all for it. because they won't be able to, in a trillion years, match the former senior senator of delaware, the dean of the senate, if you will. they can't touch him. the reason they can't touch him is because he actually knows what he's talking about. unlike mr. romney or mr. ryan. >> steve s there anyth
